Imperial Trading Co. LLC has acquired certain assets of City Wholesale in Birmingham, Alabama. City Wholesale is a third-generation, 97-year-old wholesale distribution company serving more than 1,100 convenience retail, educational and hospitality locations across Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Mississippi.

The City Wholesale team, including owners the Dichiara family, will continue to operate and manage the distribution warehouse in Birmingham, Alabama. “What this merger does is allow City the opportunity to purchase products in greater quantities in order to eliminate many of the supply chain issues our industry has experienced in the last three years,” Imperial Trading said in a press release. “Further, it gives City the opportunity to share best practices across a multitude of retail outlets to enhance growth for all locations.”

Together, said Wayne Baquet, president and CEO of Imperial, the combined companies will “better service our customers in the Alabama and Florida region.”

Imperial Trading is a fourth-generation, 107-year-old family-owned convenience store wholesaler based in Elmwood, Louisiana. It is one of the largest wholesalers in the United States with six distribution centers serving 5,500 convenience stores from the Gulf of Mexico to the Canadian Border.
